Burqueños for Education and Empowerment Announces 2015 BEE Scholarships Recipients
BEE Scholarships Awards Seven Scholarships to Albuquerque-metro High School Seniors
Albuquerque, NM June 3, 2015: Burqueños for Education and Empowerment (BEE), a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2014 to provide graduating Albuquerque high school seniors funds to help alleviate college costs, is thrilled to announce the recipients of its inaugural BEE Scholarships.
The scholarships, recognize students' leadership skills, academic achievement and commitment to community service. This year’s scholarship winners truly demonstrated dedication and excellence in all of those categories.
“It is a difficult task to choose a winner out of so many qualified candidates,” says BEE co-founder and President Matthew Salas. “The BEE Scholarship committee has selected very strong and worthy candidates that epitomize the values of BEE.”
The following is a list of the 2015 BEE Scholarships recipients:
Outstanding Scholar Award ($800): Jonathan Salazar (Atrisco Heritage High School)
Rising Scholar Award ($500): Daisy Astorga (Atrisco Heritage High School)
$50 Winners:
-Danielle Armijo (Nuestros Valores Charter School)
-Alicia Gonzalez (Valley High School)
-Stacie Hernandez (Albuquerque High School)
-Tommy Kane Holt (Albuquerque High School)
-Luis Molinar (Bernalillo High School)
“I am humbled and honored,” says BEE Scholarships’ top recipient Jonathan Salazar. “I know that this scholarship will alleviate a lot of the stress and costs as I start my journey towards higher education.”
BEE would like to thank the countless number of volunteers and donors that have assisted in making the first year of BEE Scholarships a success. The organization seeks to continue its efforts in providing scholarships and volunteering in the community for years to come.
