The use of laptops to be successful in school has become prominent and extremely beneficial in high school. Teachers began to ask that assignments be printed out and turned in instead of being written out. These new adjustments in school were brand new to me. I remember going in during lunch and asking my teachers to allow me to turn in my written assignments. I promised them my handwriting would be legible and neater than ever before.

They understood, but I could not help imagining how much easier my life would be if I had a laptop. I don’t quite remember when my dad arrived home with a laptop he bought at thrift store, but I do remember his excitement. I was laying in bed and as he handed it to me he told me “Mija, ya no va a tener que batallar.” “Daughter, you won’t have to struggle anymore.”

That $200 laptop helped me make my dreams a reality. I was able to apply to twenty-five scholarships with that very laptop. It not only helped me, but it made it easier for others to assist me on my educational journey. I no longer had to worry about losing my assignments or my USB drive malfunctioning because I traded in my untrustworthy USB drive for Google Drive. My teachers, mentors and friends could leave me suggestions on my essays and I did not have to worry about not having enough time to apply to colleges and scholarships. Was my laptop the best? No, but it did allow me to successfully graduate from high school and attend the university of my dreams on a full-ride scholarship.

During my high school years I was fortunate enough to own a laptop. This helped me

immensely because I was not constricted to have to working as much as I could during

the  hour that the media center was open after school.

During my time in college so far, I have come to learn how essential a laptop is. There

came a point when my laptop broke and I felt so lost. All of my classes posted everything

online and the way we were supposed to take notes were by downloading the lecture

slides and outlines and filling them in.

Having a portable laptop has seriously made a difference in my education.

It saves me a lot of time since I don’t have to go back to my room to do things. If I get out of a class early and I have my laptop, I can do something productive.

It has really made a huge impact in my educational growth and I surely hope that with this scholarship we can gather enough amount of money to provide a laptop to a low income student .Just like it was provided for me.
