BEE Scholarships Holding Second Fundraiser at Chili’s January 19

Chili’s Will Be Hosting BEE as Part of their ‘Give Back’ Program on MLK Jr. Day 

Albuquerque, NM, December 5th, 2014: Set the date: Burqueños for Education and Empowerment (BEE) will holding a fundraiser January 19th, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, at Chili's, located at 2560 Coors Blvd. NW 87120 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, next to Walmart on Coors and I-40. BEE is partnering with Chili’s as part of their Give Back Program, in which Chili’s donates 15% of paid meal and drink tabs to BEE. In order for BEE to receive the 15% of the bill, attendees must provide the event flyer to the waiting staff at Chili’s, in print or on their phone (flyer below). The event will be held the entire day Jan. 19 from 11am to 10pm. 

“We were all thrilled with the support from our family, friends, and community. We need to maintain that support year-round and continually develop this organization. The Chili’s ‘Give Back’ Program will help us do just that,” says BEE’s President, Matthew Salas of the great opportunity to continue the wave of enthusiasm and support that was generated from BEE’s first fundraiser in October.

Many attendees from the first fundraiser expressed their desire to want to support and give back to their community but were unsure of how to do so. For them, the introduction of BEE is going to help fulfill that desire.  

The Chili’s ‘Give Back’ event will not only be a great opportunity to raise funds for scholarships, but is also a great way “for those who care about our community to come together over a good meal and discuss what we can do to work toward our goal of positively impacting our hard working students,” says BEE’s Treasurer Jerry Sprouse. BEE will also be issuing their first scholarships to the applicants in January. 

Please come out, enjoy some good food and company, and support BEE. Members of BEE will be at Chili’s throughout the day to greet guests and supporters.

BEE Scholarships First Event

BEE Scholarships held its first fundraiser at Lew Wallace Elementary in downtown Albuquerque on Oct. 10th. The event drew about 80 people from the Albuquerque-area even donors from as far as Minnesota and even Australia. 

As part of the event attendees were treated to a New Mexican-style buffet and even had the chance to vote for the organization's logo. 

Overall the event was a success. BEE Scholarships would like to thank all those that attended and other supporters who were unable to make it to the event but still were generous enough to donate.
